Doctoral Programs
Regional Health Systems believes in working to meet the growing demand for mental health professionals. Our Psychiatry Residency and Clinical Psychology Internships programs educate and train the future mental health experts of our communities.
Psychiatry Residency
The Indiana University School of Medicine Psychiatry Residency program in Merrillville trains new psychiatrists to better care for underserved populations and people with mental illness in northwest Indiana.
The newly accredited four-year program works in partnership with members of the Regional Care Group and the Northwest Indiana Graduate Medical Education Consortium.
Clinical Psychology Internship
Our clinical doctoral psychology internship program is APA-accredited by the Commission on Accreditation. The internship program aims to train competent and ethical clinical psychologists with a particular focus on training psychologists to work in community mental health centers. Graduates of the internship have gone on to work in community mental health centers, private practice groups, the VA, and other clinical settings.

Bachelor’s and Master’s Internships
Regional Health Systems offers students the opportunity to intern at Northwest Indiana’s largest community mental health center. The variety of bachelor’s and master’s degree-level internships provide social work and mental health counseling students with the chance to learn skills that help them gain both confidence and experience in their chosen field.
