Press Release: Regional Mental Health Center Launches Recovery Matters Campaign

Residential Drug Treatment Proves Success, Offers Hope with 25-year Sober Stories

MERRILLVILLE, IN – “Getting clean is hard. We make it easier,” reads new billboards on I-65, I-94, and Route 41 that belong to Regional Mental Health Center. The community mental health center launched a new marketing campaign this month for its residential drug treatment program called, Recovery Matters. The marketing campaign centers on two local women, Victoria Charleston-Hanley and Rosemary, and their story of getting clean.

“My grandson was born in 1995, the same year I started treatment, I call him my clean baby,” said Victoria Charleston-Hanley. Charleston-Hanley, her son, and her grandson participated in a photo shoot for the campaign’s billboards, website, social media and print materials. She continues, “I had the love of the drug, now I have the love of family.” Charleston-Hanley is now a supervisor for Regional’s Recovery Matters program.

Recovery Matters is a residential drug treatment program serving Indiana residents from two locations, 8555 Taft Street in Merrillville and 3903 Indianapolis Boulevard in East Chicago. The program specializes in “wrap-around services” including comprehensive physical and mental health screening, intensive outpatient programs, family education, and discharge planning. Medicated assisted treatments are also available.

Because Regional Mental Health Center is a non-profit, community mental health center (CMHC), cost of services are lower than for-profit treatment centers. Regional does not turn anyone away from inability to pay or lack of insurance coverage. The CMHC also offers a discounted fee scale for qualifying Indiana residents and help finding insurance coverage.

“We want Northwest Indiana to know that an affordable, quality option for treating addictions exists in their backyard,” said Bob Krumwied, CEO for Regional Health Systems. “And, this campaign does that while conveying a message of hope to families struggling with addiction.”

The campaign also includes a website, whererecoverymatters.com. Here, visitors can read Victoria’s story, learn more about the program, and download a list of the things our clients wished they knew before getting treatment.
