Child & Adolescent Psychiatry

Find the help they need.

When a child is struggling, it can be hard to know what’s normal, what’s temporary and what might need extra support. Child and adolescent psychiatry services help families better understand what their child is experiencing and connect them with the right care at the right time. Regional Health Systems provides comprehensive mental health evaluations, diagnosis and treatment, including medication management and collaboration with families and providers, all centered around personalized and compassionate care.

When to Seek Care

Ongoing changes in your child’s mood, behavior or daily functioning may be a sign to talk with a child and adolescent psychiatrist. Many families are referred by a therapist, pediatrician, counselor or school professional when concerns begin to interfere with everyday life.

Children often can’t fully explain what they’re feeling. While parents should avoid trying to diagnosis conditions themselves, trusting your instincts is often the first step in getting help. Seeking an evaluation early can help identify concerns and guide next steps, including whether medication may be part of a broader care plan.
