Regional Health Systems celebrated the grand opening of its state-of-the-art mobile health clinic Wednesday, August 16.

Regional Health Systems will participate in National Health Center Week by hosting the Road to Care Block Party.

In March of 2020, Robert Beedle was a new father, working part-time while completing his doctoral dissertation. He was organizing neighbors concerned about air pollution from a local business. His wife was returning to work after family leave. His parents were helping with childcare. Then COVID turned his life upside down.

With the U.S. national emergency response to the COVID-19 pandemic ending May 11, Robert Beedle, a postdoctoral psychologist with Regional Health Systems, offers tips to navigate anxiety post-pandemic.

Connection, Megan McGuffage said, is the most rewarding part of her job. Since July, she has worked as a recovery services case manager for Regional Health Systems, although the word ‘manager’ doesn’t seem to fully cover her responsibilities.

Regardless of how hectic his schedule becomes as an electrician’s apprentice, Dan blocks out every third Monday night and will continue to keep that slot open, he said, for the rest of his life. On those nights, he volunteers at Bridge meetings.

Dr. Manisha Byreddy, Dr. Cory Mahler, Dr. Dasia McClain and Dr. Sotirios Travlos arrived in the region on July 1 and began seeing patients on July 18th. They were selected from nearly 700 applicants to Regional Health Systems’ accredited residency program with the Indiana University School of Medicine.

The New Beginnings Clubhouse celebrated a building expansion in Merrillville Sept. 14 with a ribbon cutting followed by an open house, complete with tours of the newly remodeled location. 

Duane—only his first name is being used to protect his privacy—called his parents and told them he had a drinking problem. Then he leveled with his doctor, who connected Duane with Regional Health Systems’ addiction treatment program in Merrillville. 

In July, Regional Health Systems took a major step toward solving the physician shortage by welcoming four psychiatric residents in the launch of northern Indiana’s first psychiatry residency program.
